A small hello in the midst of a little whirlwind
"Every day, once a day, give yourself a present."
Hello readers,
It’s been a little quiet around my corner of the internet for a couple of weeks. I am in the middle of a whirlwind season at my day job, especially this week/weekend. Even though I’ve been too tired to write much, I wanted to drop in a say Hi while I had a small moment to myself and to share a quote I’ve been thinking of today.
My husband loves to quote Cooper from the TV show Twin Peaks when he says “Harry, I'm going to let you in on a little secret: every day, once a day, give yourself a present. Don't plan it; don't wait for it; just let it happen. It could be a new shirt in a men's store, a catnap in your office chair, or two cups of good, hot, black, coffee.”
I love this little quote, and it makes my smile every time my hubby says it. Life is so hard sometimes, that we all deserve to give ourselves a little present every day, even if it’s just a small space you make to write for 10 minutes.
While in the middle of a whirlwind, the little gift I’ve given to myself today is this time to jot down a few words and a stop at my favorite cafe before starting the day. However, instead of coffee (because I don’t want to get over-anxious jitters) I’ve chosen an iced blackberry hibiscus tea. Continuing through this next week, I’ll try to pick out the magical moments or little presents that just happen. It’ll help me get through to the other side.
How’s life been for you, reader? What is something that you are excited about this summer? I’d love to hear all about it in the comments! It would make my day to hear from you.
Here is one thing I’m excited about: Next month, I may be a part of a small art show in my home town. I’ll be sharing large format prints of film photos I’ve taken from the past couple of months. I can share more as soon have I have details, especially for those of you subscribed who are from Indiana! The whole opportunity has been a little spontaneous and splendid. It’s an exciting little venture.
As always, thank you for reading! Wishing you all a restful, peaceful Friday and weekend.
