Embracing the imperfection
let it take you
d e e p e r

Perfectionism makes us buoyant
only allowing for us to float on the surface of deep waters…
the surface of our humanity.
For me, it can be a vice
for the external validation that satisfies for a moment,
but leaves me unfulfilled, craving more.
Strive to be perfect and you will loose sight of living —
the little moments that are right before your eyes and ears —
trapped in thoughts of unworthiness and fear.

What is beneath the surface right now?
What are you feeling?
The thing that you are grasping at,
striving to make perfect…
why?
Where can we direct our energy instead?
How can we sink deeper into this messy, thrilling life?
To go deeper into a moment, we have to let go of being perfect.
To go deeper into a life, our humanity, we have to let go of being perfect.
What beauty can you find in the murky brown, the spilled ink, the cluttered sink, the sign of life?

What a beautiful post. I, too, struggle with imperfection and this post makes me want to be myself, unapologetically!
As a lifelong prisoner of perfectionism, I’m painstakingly trying to let go and sink deeper into myself 👽
